The music ministry of Spring Hill Baptist Church offers a variety of music experiences for our children. A group of experienced and dedicated leaders guide children in singing, playing, making friends, and having fun! It is our goal to teach children about God through music, planting the scriptures and truths in their hearts in a lasting way.
Wednesday Night Music and Missions for Children meets each week during the school year, 5:30-6:15 p.m.
Preschool Music Activities
Music for Threes - Three year olds will experience an introduction to listening, singing, rhythm and instrumental activities. “Mommie, Daddy and Me”, a night where parents join their children in their music activities is a favorite event of the year!
Preschool Choirs - The older preschool and Kindergarten children learn basic music elements involving rhythm, melody and expression through various activities that involve singing, playing instruments and movement. The children share their music throughout the year in worship and in the family fellowship dinners on Wednesday nights.
Music Makers (Grades 1-3) The Music Makers continue their training in the areas of rhythm, melody, harmony, form and expression. Special attention is given to developing singing skills, introduction to music reading and playing instruments. First and Second Graders enjoy playing music games, learning about our hymns and the stories behind them. They share their music in worship and a special annual trip at Christmas to Senior Citizens living facilities.
Young Musicians Choir (Grades 4-6 ) The Young Musicians continue to learn, through a variety of activities, the elements of music and reading music. Singing skills and learning to lead in worship as a choir is the emphasis of this group. Members of Young Musicians Choir are given the opportunity to audition for the Alabama Baptist Children's Honor Choir. Those chosen will join children from other churches throughout Alabama to present a concert in March.
Young Musicians often participate with the Sanctuary Choir in the presentation of "This Is Christmas" as well as leading in worship services throughout the year.
Young Musicians Handbells and Choir Chimes (Grades 4-6) These groups learn basic skills in handbell playing and reading music. They meet Wednesdays at 5:00 p.m.
